The Turkish-Kurdish problem has cost thousands of lives on both sides. But also laid the ground for the birth of the Kurdish women movement which is getting stronger day by day. What the women of a nation denied all basic rights would do to oppose all kinds of oppression?
Hêvî is a film about the hopes and suffering of 4 Kurdish women who took their places in different parts of this struggle to answer this question; Eren Keskin, Gülten Kışanak, Aysel Tuğluk, and Sakine Cansız who were killed in Paris in January 2013 alongside her two women comrades.
Director Yüksel Yavuz Biography:
Yüksel Yavuz was born Karakocan, in Northern Kurdistan. In 1980, Yavuz moved to Germany and studied Economy and Sociology in Hamburg. He has been involved in the film industry since 1990 and continued to study Visual Communication at Hamburg’s Academy of Fine Arts from 1992 to 1996.
